About
Teresa Lawler studied at the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London
before joining the BBC Design Department, leaving in 1993. Since then she has worked in
Production Design both in TV and theatre and in education first at NTU in Singapore and then
at Kingston University where she was Course Director for MA Production Design in Film and TV
from 1999 -2013.
During this time she continued to produce her own work ranging from paintings,
drawings and prints to light installations. Over recent years the emphasis has moved to
painting which is now the main focus of her practice.
She was elected a member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours (RI) in 2021
and was awarded the Winsor and Newton Prize that year for the group of paintings submitted
